[UKN48] Crows Blood – Ep02 English Subs by UKN48

– YeYoH

PS. A couple of people have been asking if we’re going to release softsubs for this series, and unfortunately, we won’t. Sorry :/

It still amazes me that 5 years ago everyone was releasing softsubs. Now, softsubs don’t even exist. I won’t watch anything on DailyMotion… a piece of crap site with more advertisements than actual videos. And I don’t have the harddrive space to download 2 of every video that gets hardsubbed. And I’m not deleting the original that I have because more times than not it is better quality than the hardsubbed one. There’s a reason why a lot of people ask for softsubs, it’s because we all want them! Most people are just too afraid to say anything. And yes, I know the reason you don’t want to release softsubs. I’ve heard it a million times. People steal them and claim them as their own. Big deal. They’re softsubs… for the sole purpose of letting others enjoy the works of the idols we all love. Softsubs (and hardsubs) should be made available to as many people as possible… to spread the love. Do you realize how few people are actually watching your videos with the subtitles you worked so hard on? Why wouldn’t you want your work to go to a lot more people? Makes no sense to me. I’ve done a few softsubs in my day and released them in hopes that they would reach as many people as possible. Did people steal them and claim them as their own? I don’t know. I don’t care. Either way, MY work is still being distributed and the love for our idols will continue.

I also agree with Joe. Soft subs > Hardsub or stream. With hardsubs you guys encode at a much lower quality than the original video. It’s also more time and work for you guys. Soft subs is a win-win for everyone.

Are you guys scared of people ripping off your work? Honestly everyone who is in the AKB fandom knows all the major fan sites and groups already. If someone was ripping off your work we would know where the original came from. We would always go to the source because we support them and thats the fastest place to get it. Sites like show48 just link to the video themselves. They also put the subbers name in the description. If People wanted to they can still rip off your work regardless. All they have to do manually copy the subs and times.

hmm can you give me the link?

I found that softsub is better. then again, there’s only 2 fansub that still provides softsub nowadays.
AIDOL the leading fansub of 48 groups, and IKUDON as the leading fansub of 46 groups.
But I really appreciate what you guys do nevertheless.

Thanks for subbing this drama! It’s really good. Love the storyline. and about the comments here, I don’t mind streaming the drama but I guess it would be good to have softsubs indeed~ for people who want to download and watch with their own video, and also maybe the drama could be then subbed in other languages and it would make this drama known to more people. well that’s just my opinion but thanks for your hard work and I enjoy watching this drama here on the website 🙂

The subbing overall is good, but there are many repeated obvious errors. It makes me wonder if the person doing the sub is a native English speaker or not, because many of the mistakes are those that a native speaker would not make.

For example, when referring to Maki as the daughter of Professor Seto, it repeatedly says stuff like “her daughter”. It should be “his daughter”, since Professor Seto is male. Possessive pronouns should agree with the subject not the object.

In addition, there are also occasional problems with verb tenses, such as using “has” where “have” would be appropriate. It may be a good idea to do a quality check with a native English speaker.

I know they are many mistakes when things are rushed, I know that for a fact, and thank you for your critism. I shall note this properly as a QC and a Translator

You are doing a great job! As a native speaker I say this. It’s one thing to offer criticism and another to offer assistance! Would gladly help!! Keep up the good work!

UKN is Indonesia based? There are many Indonesians AKB fans. I’ve noticed they speak English a certain way.

Either way it is a good idea to have a QC that is a Native English speaker.
